Noticias de Columbine: mayo de 2025

Estimadas familias de Columbine:

Happy May! It’s hard to believe we are nearing the end of the school year. This month is filled with celebrations, reflection, and preparation for the exciting transition to summer.

End-of-Year Events
We have several exciting events planned for May, including field trips, classroom celebrations, and our annual Field Day. Please keep an eye out for communication from your child’s teacher about specific dates and details.

Teacher Appreciation Week
We will be celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week from May 5th-9th. This is a great time to show our gratitude for the incredible work our teachers do each day. Thank you for helping us make them feel special!

Last Day of School
The last day of school is Thursday, May 22nd. We will have our full-school picnic from 11am-12pm. We will be eating on the school blacktop and field. STUDENTS AND FAMILIES NEED TO BRING THEIR OWN SACK LUNCH along with chairs, blankets, umbrellas, etc. We will be providing bagged lunches for any student getting school lunch. *Please note that the playground is off limits due to supervision and liability concerns. Feel free to take your student home with you after the picnic. Make sure to sign them out with their homeroom teacher. **We will be offering shaved ice and popcorn for $1 each if you would like to get an extra treat.

Lost and Found
Please be sure to check our lost and found before the end of the school year. Any unclaimed items will be donated after the last day of school.

Thank You for a Wonderful Year
Thank you for your continued partnership and support throughout the school year. We are proud of all that our students have accomplished and grateful to share this journey with you.

Wishing you a joyful and relaxing summer break!

Un cordial saludo,
Julia Cooper, directora
Columbine Elementary

Field Day: May 16

Our field day will be taking place Friday, May 16th at Collyer Park. Parents are welcome to come and watch their student(s) participate in field day activities. Please be reminded that this is a celebration for the entire school and is meant to be an opportunity to have fun. Parents please cheer on your own child(ren) and be supportive of others.

Children must wear appropriate clothes for the activities. As we all know, Colorado weather can be 80 degrees one day and 30 the next, so PLEASE DRESS FOR THE WEATHER. Also, students should wear good athletic shoes. Crocs and sandals may be a good way to beat the heat, but they do not provide support for athletics. Finally, please make sure that your child puts on waterproof SUNSCREEN before school.

We will be serving shaved ice–the first is free for all current students. If you have other children who would like one (or you want one!)–we’ll be selling them for just $1.

Below is the schedule for field day. We will be starting at the shed for 100 Mile Club awards/recognition then the fun will begin! Current 5th grade students will be leading our younger kiddos at the stations. Each station is about 10 minutes long.
