In extended music class, 5th grade students began the planning process to make musical marble runs. Each group will use what they know about the elements of music to represent a section of the Allegro movement from Vivaldi’s composition Spring.
Students used iPads to draw and code a Sphero path. We had an accuracy race to drive our sphero to our partner!
Our second graders and fourth graders get to buddy up throughout the year. They recently read stories to one another that they each wrote, as well as fun books from the classroom. It’s a great opportunity for students to learn from each other!

Recently our robotics team worked together to score points, rebuild robots, and have a great tournament! One of our teams won the Judges’ Award, which made it even more special!
It’s a new month, and that means we have a new winner of the Golden Cougar to announce! Congratulations to second graders in Ms. Morison’s classroom for winning the Golden Cougar for their excellent attendance last month!
In music class, third grade students are building 3D listening maps to represent a rondo form. They are using yarn, pipe cleaners, packing peanuts and drawing supplies to show A sections that are the same and different ideas to represent B and C.

Our robotics team has been working so hard this year! It is wonderful to see them learning and growing as they work toward their goals.
This past Saturday, January 24, Columbine Elementary parents proudly represented our school at the St. Vrain Explore event. Thank you, families, for your leadership, support, and for putting Columbine in the spotlight! Go Cougars!
