I grew up in southern New Jersey and attended Haddon Heights High School, where I played field hockey, basketball, and softball. In 1990, I graduated with honors, and was named the Colonial Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year. A highlight of my time at HHHS was becoming only the second female basketball player in school history to score over 1,000 points—a milestone that later helped me to earn induction into the HHHS Athletic Hall of Fame. After high school, I attended the University of Virginia, graduating in 1994 with a BA in English. That summer, I moved to Colorado to enjoy hiking, camping, and skiing in the Rockies. In 2000, I earned my teaching license and a Master’s degree in Elementary Instruction and Curriculum from CU Boulder.
This is my 25th year teaching in St. Vrain Valley School District, and I’ve served as a Literacy Specialist at Columbine Elementary since 2009. I was certified as an Associate level member of the Orton-Gillingham Academy in 2017, and since that time, have used the academy’s targeted, sequential, multisensory, and emotionally sound instructional approach with students in my small groups. I love helping kids to become confident readers and writers!
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy singing, hiking, fishing, and curling up by the fireplace with my cat and a great book.
