Our Vision Statement:
Columbine Cougars are part of a collaborative STEM community which inspires empathetic and creative problem solvers who positively impact the world around them.
Our Mission Statement:
We believe that through inquiry and problem-based instruction, we build the interdisciplinary connections inspiring students to be creative, empathetic, and critical thinkers. Students are given opportunities to take risks, pursue their interests, and make choices throughout their learning process.
We value continuous reflection and iteration through the Design Thinking process. As a community of learners, we use this process to provide a rigorous STEM education exposing students to content and skills they need beyond our classrooms.
We believe collaboration drives learning at our school. Our relationships among students, families, teachers, and the community, strengthen our ability to create diverse and authentic learning environments. By building strong partnerships within our community, we provide the experiences and develop skill sets to inspire, engage, and empower students to positively impact the world around them.

School Leadership
Apple Distinguished School
We’re pleased to be recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for 2025-2026 for inspiring, imagining, and impacting teaching and learning school wide through
continuous innovation.
Our Story
At Columbine Elementary, we honor strong community traditions while embracing innovative, purposeful uses of technology that empower every student to grow, thrive, and connect. Our school is built on the strengths of our students, staff, and dedicated community volunteers, creating a supportive environment where every learner is valued and inspired to succeed.
Inspire
At Columbine Elementary, our vision ensures all students, especially those overcoming poverty and special needs, access a robust academic journey. We inspire leadership by turning learners into teachers. Older students master technology tools—like translation and spoken context features—to access rigorous curriculum. With these tools, students take agency over their own learning in a way that hasn’t been possible before. They lead younger students through mentoring sessions and teach parents at a Cafecito. This model validates them as valued members of our community, enhancing their own learning, giving them the agency to thrive now and as future leaders.
Imagine
Our staff and students foster a culture of digital agency. Professional development ensures staff have the skills to use tools successfully. With Apple Classroom, teachers simultaneously engage with student learning while fluidly giving feedback. Students collaborate, leveraging accessibility features so every voice, regardless of language acquisition level, can contribute meaningfully. Students smoothly transition through the stages of writing by recording their ideas in voice memos, using Freeform to create Thinking Maps for brainstorming and organization, and developing their responses both orally and in writing. This grants students agency to express themselves through creative apps, moving from consumers to creators.
Impact
At Columbine Elementary, our vision for a dynamic world centers on student empowerment. We inspire our diverse population, particularly our English Learners, by focusing on teaching and learning equity. We utilize Apple technologies to remove language barriers, provide instant access to translation, read-aloud features, and fluency practice. This work ensures all students can comprehend and articulate ideas with equal confidence and capability. By equipping them to thrive academically and communicate effectively, we cultivate a sense of self-efficacy that drives them to embrace leadership roles both within the school and the wider community.
